By chrisd
According to a five-year interactive marketing forecast Shar Van Boskirk of Forrester Research, “interactive marketing is more effective, and advertising less effective, per dollar spent.”
- Online marketing budgets have decreased, but decreased less than traditional advertising.
- Marketers expect to shift advertising dollars from traditional marketing to online marketing efforts.
- More than 70% of marketers surveyed believe effectiveness of social media, online video and mobile marketing will increase.
- Spending on digital and online marketing is expected to grow from 12% in 2009 to 21% in 2014, even though advertising budgets are unlikely to grow.
- Social media’s portion of those dollars is $716 million this year, but is expected to grow to $3 billion within five years.
